While the RIAA conjures up images of sinister high-tech pirates slaving day and night to crack the latest DRM copy protections, some guy walking by Bono’s house managed to record four tracks off U2’s upcoming album.
From the Telegraph:
The first studio album by Irish rock band U2 in four years has been leaked onto the Internet – after lead singer Bono played tracks too loudly in his holiday home and they were recorded by a passer-by.
[…] According to The Sun, the U2 fan was walking along the beach outside the villa when he recognised the singer’s voice on the track booming out from a stereo in the palatial holiday home.
This being the Internet Age, the songs were promptly posted to YouTube, and though the audio has since been disabled because it “has not been authorized by all copyright holders,” you can very likely find a copy floating around the net if you’re inclined to look.
I bet Universal is pissed.
The album will apparently be called “No Line on the Horizon.” Sounds disorienting.
