Florence and the Machine are a good old-fashioned British ass-kickin’ band. Here’s the video for their song “Kiss with a Fist”:
According to her BBC bio, she “makes the kind of music Lily or Kate would make if they’d grown up locked in a cage full of snakes in the basement of a Louisiana funeral home.” Have a gander at some of her other tracks on her Myspace page.

Sigh. I know my tastes are more diverse than what my next comment is about to reveal about me, but I have to post it:
She has terrible vocal technique.
Sigh. Too much classical music for Asher? No sir. I stand by it. I don’t like her voice. What’s more, they sound highly affected. I like it better when they don’t think that they’re so cool, but they happen to actually be cool.
Now, I don’t like the White Stripes, generally, but I love the song, “We’re Going to be Friends,” and this song is just too close for comfort.

It’s terrible! I wish record companies could fail artists and put a note on their permanent record/file for doing something like that…

Oh yeah, and the whole domestic abuse thing… that’s sort of HORRIBLE as well.
