cnn says racist whites don’t like obama

In a shocking revelation, CNN says an “unspoken demographic” (racist white people) may not vote for Obama because he’s black:

As both Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton race to make history, some political observers believe Obama might have a unique problem because he’s African-American.

They claim voters often say they’ll go one way, then act quite differently at the polls when it comes to a candidate’s race.

The news is expected to radically alter Obama’s campaign strategy, which has until now relied heavily on skinheads and KKK members as a core support base.

In other headlines, water still wet, fire still hot, and CNN still has a unique talent for using big words to point out the blindingly obvious.

Update: CNN’s “From the Blogs” section, posted under this article on its site, lists flickeringpictures.com as one of three featured sites blogging about the story. This is the second flickeringpictures post to be featured on a CNN page. Cool!

Do I sense the blinding insight of Wolf Blitzer? Because only he could possibly generate something chock full of such wisdom. Although to be fair CNN does have quite the slew of Non-Insightfuls to choose from (yes, I know that’s not a word).

How does anti-”black” racism compare statistically to sexism in the American electorate? I’d wager that there are parts of the US where it’s less acceptable to admit that you’re sexist than it is to admit that you’re racist. Still, I suppose that would leave his problem as unique, since he’s the only “black” candidate.

…and since CNN can’t monitor what people are thinking I don’t see how they can even make the witless claim they’ve made. There are any number of variables that could change someone’s decision from the time they are polled to the time they vote. In addition to which someone can choose not to vote for Sen. Obama without being racist. The same way that I wouldn’t vote for Sen. Clinton and am not sexist.

CNN misses the mark once again. This is what you get when you’re forced to pump out 24 hours worth of material every day.

…Is it too much to hope that CNN will someday get back to reporting news?

Sadly, I think it may be too much to hope. But somebody over there must agree with us, because the CNN article now links to this post!

I dont feel that all people who are white and do not vote for Obama are racist, but to deny that many will not vote for him just because he is black would be a blatant denial of reality. I am from small town America and I know that many blacks can not even be promoted to head supervisor at the local mill more less become president of this great United States. The time is not right for Hillary or Obama, you would need another two generations to die off in order for this nation to purge itself of its bigotry and sexism. Both are well qualified but will face problems because they do not fit the standard model of white, older, male ( dont forget wealthy).
