Coincidence? I think not.
Thanks to a U.S. federal appeals court ruling that struck down the Texas law, Mississippi, Alabama and Virginia are now the only states where they’re still illegal. Amazingly, the judges split 2 to 1.
Says the Statesman:
The state also argued in a brief that Texas has legitimate “morality based” reasons for the laws, which include “discouraging prurient interests in autonomous sex and the pursuit of sexual gratification unrelated to procreation.”
Wow.
[I’ll admit, I didn’t know what prurient meant. According to Princeton’s Wordnet, it means: “characterized by lust.” I just learned something - and even better, the word “lust” will probably push me way up the Google rankings, too. Lust lust lust.]
