Update: I think I found the problem - please let me know if you see a difference.

If you’ve been having timeouts or slow load times here, I’m really sorry for the problem - it seems like the site gets painfully slow for a while and then is fine again for hours. I’ve been in touch with my hosting company to figure out what the problem is, and so far they seem baffled - while traffic here has been a bit of a pleasant surprise (thanks for that!), it’s nowhere near a volume that would be slowing down the site. I’m going to keep hounding them until they get this mysterious issue fixed.

In the meantime, thanks for your patience with this little fledgling enterprise, and please let me know if you have any problems here, so that I’ll have more symptoms to describe the next time I call them up for a diagnosis and, hopefully, a cure.
